HSE Olympiads Come to Vietnam
The delegation consisted of Dr. Olga Eremina, director of the Russian Language Center, Dr. Andrey Maksimov, department head and professor in the Department of Economic Theory and Econometrics in the Faculty of Economics at HSE Nizhny Novgorod, and Alina Ageeva and Maria Protasevich, managers in HSE’s international Admissions Office.
During the visit, the HSE delegation met with senior leaders at Hanoi International Vocational College, National Economics University (NEU), Academy of Policy and Development, Foreign Trade University (FTU), VNU HCMC University of Science, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, and Saigon University. At the Academy of Policy and Development and VNU HCMC University of Science, Dr. Maksimov delivered a lecture titled "Econometric Modeling of the Solow’s Model of Balanced Growth". At the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Dr. Eremina delivered a lecture titled "Why Is a Chair Called a Chair, and Other Interesting Stories on the Origins of Words". The lecture was followed by a Q&A session and the students thanked Dr. Eremina for her presentation. Olympiad competitions were held at three schools, including the International School of Vietnam(ISV) and Trường THPT Quốc Oai. HSE staff tested students on their knowledge of Russian literature, history, geography, and culture, and awarded HSE souvenirs.
During the visit, it was apparent that there is strong demand in Vietnam for Russian education (both in English and in Russian) and great interest in creating long-term partnerships. Double-degree programmes and summer courses in Vietnam were discussed as possibilities in the near future.
This is HSE’s second visit to Vietnam in 2016. In April 2016, a HSE delegation met with the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City over the course of a week. HSE will continue to build relationships with Vietnamese higher education institutions and organizations with the anticipation of increased cooperation in the coming years.

Delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg Visits Schools and Higher Education Institutions in Vietnam
In October, the faculty and staff of HSE University-St Petersburg held the HSE International Olympiad and Mathematical Olympiad by HSE University at three schools in Hanoi. The tasks on social sciences were designed by professors of HSE University-St Petersburg. During the trip, the delegation also visited higher education institutions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, including VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB), a partner of HSE University-St Petersburg.
HSE University to Enhance Cooperation with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology
On September 20, a delegation from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) visited HSE University. The Rector of HSE University Nikita Anisimov and the Chairman of the Academy Châu Văn Minh discussed promising avenues for cooperation in the fields of education and science. The heads of HSE departments presented the opportunities the university provides to international students and researchers.
‘HSE Prep Year Programme Is an Amazing Investment in Your Future’
On July 3, 2024, the International Preparatory Year programme held its graduation ceremony. This academic year, 215 students (150 on state-funded and 65 on fee-paying places) from over 50 countries were enrolled in the programme. Graduates from Nigeria, Sudan, and Vietnam shared their impressions with the HSE News Service. Alexandra Nazarchuk, Director of the International Preparatory Year Programme talked about their achievements and plans for the coming year.
HSE University Takes School Students from Vietnam on Pokrovka Campus Tour
The HSE International Admissions Office organised a guided tour of HSE University's campus on Pokrovsky Bulvar in Moscow for visitors from Vietnam who are studying Russian—a group of 20 students at Thai Nguyen High School for the Gifted and Foreign Language Specialised School, Vietnam National University, participants of the 'Russian Teacher Abroad' international project.
HSE University and Vietnam National University Sign Cooperation Agreement
On June 20, 2024, the parties exchanged copies of the agreement as part of the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vietnam. The ceremony was held in the presence of the leaders of the two countries at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. Head of the HSE delegation, Vice Rector Victoria Panova, and VNU Rector Le Quan also participated in the event. In addition, HSE University representatives signed a memorandum of understanding and an addendum with the Institute of Mathematics of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Results of the HSE International Competition Announced
726 participants received certificates of achievement (winners’ diplomas), and more than 200 have already become HSE students. This event is one of the largest and most recognised projects of HSE University, which allows participants to gain university admission with a full or partial scholarship. Registration for the competition in Russian is already underway. Soon, registration for the HSE International Olympiad in English (INTO HSE) will kick off.
Delegation from Vietnamese Universities Visits HSE University
In April 2024 Deputy Minister of Education and Training of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Hoang Minh Son and a delegation from top Vietnamese universities visited the HSE Pokrovka campus. The parties discussed prospects for the development of bilateral relations in higher education and identified priority areas for continued partnership.

Thu Trang Pham is a 23-year old HSE University student from Vietnam. She is currently in her fourth year of studies at theFaculty of World Economy and International Relations.
