Education news at HSE University

The second GameDevFest, a festival for computer game developers organised by the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS), took place at the Pokrovka campus. Student developers showcased demo versions of their games, while guests and organisers discussed the state of the industry, opportunities for gamification, and game development education.

At the end of January, Jakarta (Indonesia) hosted the IIETE 2025 international education and training exhibition. HSE University-St Petersburg and three other Russian universities represented the higher education system in Russia. Over several days, the exhibition welcomed more than 50,000 people.

HSE University is launching a joint undergraduate programme, ‘Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language,’ in partnership with Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities in Abu Dhabi. This is the first Russian language programme approved by the UAE Ministry of Education.

On January 24, 2025, at the HSE University campus on Pokrovka, Rector Nikita Anisimov and representatives from key departments and internationalisation subdivisions met with delegations from South China Normal University and Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn. The discussions focused on opportunities for expanding cooperation in various fields.

Element Group, one of the largest developers and manufacturers of microelectronics in Russia, will become HSE University's key industrial partner in creating a new system to train specialists in high-tech industries. The training will be organised at the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM).

One of the oldest programmes at HSE University-St Petersburg is the English-taught Bachelor's programme 'Sociology and Social Informatics'. It has existed for more than ten years, and over this time, the programme has helped many students gain interdisciplinary skills and find their own unique career paths. HSE University’s Eastern Perspective expert club has held its first event—a business session dedicated to launching and developing successful businesses in India. The club was created by HSE experts to discuss tools, trends, and insights for cooperation between Russia and countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle and Near East, and North Africa. The event featured experts with years of successful experience working in the Indian market on behalf of major global corporations.

On January 15, 2025, the Russian-Brazilian Colloquium on Logical Pluralism was held at the HSE International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy to mark World Logic Day. This event was part of the joint project ‘Pluralistic Perspectives on Logic and Formal Philosophy,’ implemented by the laboratory and the Centre for Logic, Epistemology and the History of Science at the University of Campinas (Brazil) under the International Academic Cooperation competition.
