Education news at HSE University

The Möbius Contest, established in 1997, aims to identify the best student research works in mathematics and provide financial support to their authors for continuing their scientific work in Russia. It offers students the opportunity to receive feedback on their initial research results from leading mathematicians.

Representatives from the HSE Institute of Education have visited leading Indian universities, including the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and O.P. Jindal Global University, as well as several research centres. HSE staff gave guest lectures on the Russian education system, highlighting its features and opportunities for international students. The visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between the two countries. 

In the modern world, the effective transfer of socio-economic and humanities-based knowledge to the real economy and public administration is essential. Universities play a decisive role in this process. They have the capability to unite diverse teams and, in partnership with the state and businesses, develop and enhance advanced technologies.

HSE University has been awarded ‘Gold’ status in the Times Higher Education (THE) Online Learning Rankings 2024 alongside 10 other global universities. A new subset of the Times Higher Education World Rankings, the Online Learning Rankings (OLR) are focused on global universities that develop online education.

HSE University and ANO Integration plan to jointly develop projects aimed at creating new approaches to education and advancing innovative agrobiotechnologies. The parties signed the corresponding agreement at the XI Congress ‘Innovative Practice: Science Plus Business.’ 

The grand finale of Sber's international hackathon for Web3 developers, DeFi Hack 2024, concluded with five finalist teams. A total of 145 teams from 31 regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Serbia, participated in the competition. 

HSE University and the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music (RAM) have developed an educational programme for the music industry. The 2025/26 academic year will see the launch of ‘Producer in the Music Industry,’ a joint Russian-taught master's programme. The HSE Academic Council approved the programme on November 27.

The Academic Council of HSE University has established three new educational programmes. For the first time, in 2025, HSE University in St. Petersburg will enrol students in the Bachelor's programme in ‘Texts, Languages, and Digital Tools‘ and the Master's programme in ‘Applied Linguistics: Foreign Language Teaching and Translation in the Digital Environment,’ and at HSE University in Moscow—in the Master's programme ‘Producer in the Music Industry.’
